    New Braunfels Real Estate

Located on the I-35 Corridor between San Antonio and Austin, New Braunfels has recently become one of the most popular cities for San Antonians to relocate and for newcomers to settle!  Drawn by the rich history (it was named by a German prince after his hometown) and the recreation amenities of the aquamarine Guadalupe River, residents are flocking here, paying a third more than the regional average for homes.  Home to 67,ooo residents today, New Braunfels was once the fourth largest city in Texas, behind Galveston, Houston and San Antonio and one of the first places German immigrants settled, partially because of a secret Native Americans discovered in the A.D. period — an abundance of spring water.  The uniquely strong German influence is evident today in downtown which was designed like a town straight out of old Germany — with an open square; narrow streets and compact lots radiating out to keep it defensible.  Just a few miles off the square is the quaint, historic enclave of Gruene (said “green”) which sits on the river and hosts famed restaurants and what is billed as the ‘oldest continually running dancehall in Texas’. Gruene Hall remained largely unchanged since its inception in 1878.  Some of the cherished names in country music found their start here, including George Strait and Lyle Lovett.  Frequented in the past by Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, BB King, Jerry Lee Lewis, famed legends and new stars still play today.  Homes in New Braunfels range from quaint historic craftsman cottages near downtown to new energy efficient homes in master planned communities to trendy townhomes near Gruene to sprawling ranch-styles on small acreage along the outskirts. Visit and be charmed by historical and natural wonders of New Braunfels!
